The official Knesset information is broad and difficult to scan, compare and understand as one coherent picture.
Overview
A civic interface designed to make Israeli parliamentary data easier to explore and understand. Knessetil is structured to bring together member profiles, factions, parliamentary activity, statistical metrics, and side-by-side comparisons in one coherent interface.
The project is currently under construction and in active development. The public deployment is paused while data ingestion pipelines, storage costs, and hosting architecture are evaluated. The interface is not currently live on the public web.
The need
Knesset data is public by law, but official information is spread across fragmented datasets, meeting transcripts, and separate ministry views. It is challenging for citizens, researchers, and journalists to scan parliamentary records sequentially, compare elected representatives, or understand what a specific number actually measures.
Product architecture and planned experience
The interface architecture is designed around clear, discrete civic workflows:
- Member & Faction Profiles: Contextual summaries of active and historical members of Knesset, their faction affiliations, committee roles, and verified tenure.
- Legislative Activity: Searchable records of private and government bills, parliamentary queries (she’iltot), and urgent agenda initiatives.
- Discrete Measurements: Rather than collapsing disparate figures into an opaque composite grade or “productivity score”, Knessetil treats each activity count as a discrete, verifiable measurement. Companion civic tool: 61 Coalition Calculator
While the main Knessetil data platform is in development, Bersaglio provides an open, live decision aid for parliamentary scenarios:
- 61 Seats Calculator: A client-side, interactive majority simulator that lets visitors model coalition compositions against the 61-seat threshold in the 120-member Knesset.
Data sources and independence
Knessetil relies on the Knesset’s official public OData API (ParliamentInfo). The data ingestion engine validates and normalizes protocols, distinguishing source data from calculated aggregations.
Knessetil is an independent civic product developed by Bersaglio. It is not operated, funded, or endorsed by the Knesset, any government ministry, political party, faction, or candidate.
